The Shops at Legacy is an outdoor shopping center where you can find all of your favorite stores like Anthropologie, Old Navy, and Sephora, as well as several local boutiques.
The Shops at Willow Bend is more of an indoor mall shopping option, with several shops on the outside as well, that includes stores like Dillard’s, Macy’s, Restoration Hardware, the Crayola Experience, and coupled with several favorite eateries as well.
While Plano has begun reimagining its historic downtown area, shopping and dining can be enjoyed in many interspersed areas all around Plano, Texas.
Dining:
If you’re looking for a great place to eat, you’ll find plenty of options in Plano.
Much like its diverse population, you’ll find a huge variety of cuisines here to satisfy any craving, from classic American fare to international favorites.
Some of my favorite dining spots in the area include delicious BBQ from Lockhart Smokehouse, Bonnie and Nathan Shea’s second local concept Urban Rio Cantina & Grill, Lavendou and German flavors from the one of a kind Bavarian Grill.
Stop into Eatzi’s Market & Bakery for a lunch bite and something delicious to prepare at home later. And when the beloved Trader Joe’s Grocery Store made its debut in Texas, they chose Plano as its home.
Location:
Plano is conveniently located just north of Dallas, making it a great place to commute to work or take a day trip. Located in Collin County, and with access to US-75, I-121 and Dallas North Tollway, it’s also within easy driving distance to several major cities, including Fort Worth, Oklahoma City and East Texas with its beautiful scenery.
Several smaller towns also border Plano Texas, so a day of small town life and excursions is easily enjoyed.The city is served by the DART system.

Arts & Culture
Plano has plenty of entertainment and cultural attractions. The city is home to the Plano Symphony Orchestra with its rich annual lineups of concerts and events, the Plano Ballet Theatre, and the Plano Children’s Theatre. T
here are also several art galleries and museums throughout the city, including the ArtCentre of Plano and the Interurban Railway Museum in Historic Downtown Plano. And of course don’t miss the annual Plano Balloon Festival!
Outdoor Activities, Parks & Recreation:
Plano has a great selection of outdoor recreational activities to enjoy. Some of my favorite spots include Bob Woodruff Park, Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve. All three of these parks offer plenty of walking and biking trails, playgrounds, picnic spots, and more.
Plano also offers over 100 miles of trails that span throughout the city and intertwine with the local parks as well. Plano is home to more than 20 parks, so there’s something to suit everyone’s taste.
A favorite of our family is Windhaven Meadows Park; it has a playground, a huge pavilion, splash pad area, a dog park, restroom facilities, and connects to the trails, something for everyone!
The city also offers a variety of recreational activities and sports leagues, from basketball to soccer and everything in between.
Healthcare:
Plano has several excellent healthcare facilities, including the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center at Plano Texas Health Hospital Plano, and Medical City Plano and Cooks Children’s Pediatrics Plano, dedicated to children’s health needs.
All of these facilities and more offer a wide range of services, from routine checkups to specialized care.
Quality Education:
Plano is home to several top-ranked schools. Most of the city is served by Plano ISD with some areas covered by Frisco ISD. Additionally, Plano offers a large selection of charter school options as well as private schools, pre-K and daycare options.
